PT/INR monitoring is necessary to monitor blood clotting levels in patients  who are on blood thinning medications such as Coumadin (Warfarin).

For pediatric, adult and elderly patients that need monitoring, the need for regular lab testing can be more than a minor inconvenience, especially for those patients who have difficulty moving around and/or have veinipuncture difficulties. These issues may prevent you from receiving the required testing. In such cases, CardioLink can work with your physician and insurance company to obtain a PT/INR home testing monitor.

The PT/INR home testing monitor is similar in size and function of a glucometer. However, rather than measuring glucose levels the PT/INR home testing kit measure your bloods ability to clot.  The testing requires a small drop of blood and can give you accurate results in minutes.

Once approved by your insurance company, CardioLink will set up an appointment to give you a monitor and train you in its use.  For more information on Home PT/INR Testing please ask your physician to contact one of our physician relations representatives.
